Part 5: Where should I camp?
The photos below are taken around the festival site and give you an idea of what the camping options are like and how busy they get.
This is Michaels Mead at the north of the site close to Worthy Farm and Worthy FM. As you look down the hill you can see the Pyramid Stage and this is a great location if you was quick access to the Pyramid, The Other Stage, Silver Hayes and the Woodsies stage. As you can see, it’s on quite a slope and it a long walk from the South East corner. It is marginally closer to the car parks on the West of the site
This is the view from Big Ground from the point closest to the Pedestrian Gate B entrance to the festival. This field fills ups quickly and by Wednesday afternoon you will struggle to pitch a big tent here. It’s a popular spot for those who spend a lot of time at the Pyramid but it is also very easy to access West Holts and the South East corner via ‘Muddy Lane’.
This photo is the bottom of Pennard’s Hill, take from the old railway line at 14:30 on the Wednesday. This is the most popular camping spot on the whole site. Don’t let the space on the nearside of the photo mislead you, this was the site of heavy flooding and although the festival have invested in drainage, many campers wont take the risk. This is massively popular campsite is as close as you can get to the South East Corner and The Other Stage. Arcadia and the Park are a stone’s throw away and the guest and young and full of party. Don’t camp here if you expect any sleep, the party carries on in this campsite well after sunrise. Do camp here if the late-night party is your favourite part of the festival. You’ll be in good company.
This is the incredibly small Lower Mead that is between the Woodsies Stage and Silver Hayes. It’s very close to Pedestrian Gate A and is a great spot if you are looking for a flat campsite close to the Pyramid and Other. It’s fills up fast. If you haven’t pitched here by 12:00 Wednesday and you are in a big group, better to move on and try another field. From the 2023 map it looks like some of this space has been taken by hospitality camping.
